The Coral dos Canarinhos de Petrópolis was established on the 15 of August 1942 for Frei Leto Bienias. The repertoire of the choir relies on works from Gregorian Chants through modern contemporary music, particularly Renassaince Sacred music, and with presentations of diverse foreign and Brazilian works such as "the Messias" of Händel, "Oratory of Christmas" of Bach, "Requiem" of Fauré, "Gesang der Geister to über den Wassern" of Schubert, Chichester Psalms de Bernstein, Mass Brevis IV of Ernani Aguiar, workmanships of the colonial period and finally Brazilian popular music.
The choir has made several recordings including Christmas music, gregorian, sacred music - Brazilian and foreign - its most recent CD was in partnership with the Good College Jesus in 1999, dedicated to Brazilian popular music. With six international tours already, the choir was present four times in celebrations presided over by the Pope: in Rome in 1975, singing with the too much choirs of the International Federacy "Pueri congregated Singers" in an International Congress; in 1980 in the Maracanã; in 1997 in the Cathedral of Rio De Janeiro and the year of 2000, when excurcionar for the Europe, in the hearing that the Saint Padre granted in the Square of They are Peter in commemoration of the jubilee of the Year Saint.
Currently, the Chorale of the Canarinhos de Petrópolis has relied upon the artistic direction Aurélio Lischt, after years of study in Brazil and beyond, more necessarily in Germany where he passed five years perfecting himself in the study of sarced music.
