founded by Georg Goebel in the winter of 1947, the first Christmas Singing at the 21st of December 1948 became the official birth of the Boys' Choir. This traditional "birthday-concert" takes place until today on two advent evenings with more than a thousand listeners.
Lübeck's St. Mary's church became the choir's home church during the longlasting period of choirmaster Hans-Jürgen Wille. Since 1971 the Boys' Choir has been providing the music for a number of church services at St. Mary's. Simultaneously the choir is blessed with one of the city's biggest concert halls. The sacred choir concerts, especially the St. John's Passion (BWV 245) of Johann Sebastian Bach on Good Friday, have been established as an integral part of Lübeck's cultural life.
Die Lübecker Knabenkantorei Each year, the Lübecker Knabenkantorei invites audiences to join them for their traditional Christmas concerts at St. Mary's Church in Lübeck.
