  A Cripple Boy's Prayer (Carter)
Lyrics

A little boy sat all alone in a wheelchair

He was watching all the other kids run and play

On his face I saw a look far and distant

With trembling voice I heard this little boy say

They say you must be born again to enter Heaven

Walk the straight and narrow way on this earth

I don't seem to understand all the reasons

I've never walked since the day of my birth

Will I be a cripple boy in Heaven

Will my wings refuse to sail through the air

Lord I know the way I am is for a reason

But will I be a cripple boy up there

His eyes were closed

His little face turned toward Heaven

Will my life there be the same

I heard him say

Through tears of joy his face lit up

And I knew he had found the answer

He turned to me

And then I heard him say

I won't be a cripple boy in Heaven

I know my wings will sail through the air

I can run and play with all the other children

There won't be no cripple boys up there
