Who May Be Added
This directory is intended to feature:

Boys Choirs
At this time, choirs listed here should be made up of boys only or men and boys. There are already plenty of websites listing thousands of choirs of various makeups and I do not wish to duplicate these efforts.

Young male singers with unchanged voices
While I would like to include many more choristers for historical reference, the soloists listed on this site should have some sort of credited and published performance, such as an audio or video recording or a television broadcast, with the performer's name in the credits. It is only necessary to have one solo track on a single recording and credited as a soloist to be included. The rare exception to this rule is a Chorister of the Year finalist, who may or may not have participated in any recordings. Generally, these singers should be under the age of 14 or 15, which is often before their voices have changed.

Adding Artists
First, search or browse for the artist you would like to add. It may already be in the system!

Click one of the "Add an Artist/Singer/Choir" links from the home page or the submenu in the upper right side of the screen.
Fill in the information it asks for, such as Name, Nationality, Genre, Birthday. If you don't know some of these things, leave it empty or select the best option.

Once you create the artist, you may make additional changes to these details by clicking the Artist Details EDIT button.

You may add links related to this artist, including audio links, purchase links, general information sites, and official websites. Click the EDIT button next to any link to make changes to them.

To add a portrait of the artist, click the Add Artist Portrait button. Please follow the instructions regarding size of images. The site does not automatically resize images at this time, so you may email me the image if its too big, or let me know to resize it.

Adding Items (Albums, Books, Videos, New Releases)
First, search or browse for the album you would like to add. It may already be in the system!

There are two ways to add a new album:

1) Go to the appropriate section (Books, Videos, New Releases, etc.) and click Add a New Item from the menu bar. The form gives you an additional option to select an artist for this recording.

2) Find the artist, then click the Add button in the blue Recordings bar.

Because you may add books, videos, and albums, please select the appropriate media type and catagory so it will show up correctly on all the related pages.

Albums where the artist appears more will display under Featured Recordings on the page. Please select the most appropriate Contribution Level. (See explanation below)

Once the basic album details have been added, you may add covers, tracks, and album links. Please do not add tracks in the Album description box.

Linking Artists to Existing Album / Artist Contribution Levels
Albums only need to be entered once, as they may be linked to multiple artists. This is ideal when there is, for example, a choir and several treble soloists.

To add an artist, click on the album title to view the Album Detail page. Select the additional artist from the first dropdown in the upper right. Then select the contribution level that is appropriate for him/them. Click Update. The link to that artist will appear. The album will now be displayed on each artist's page.

Contribution Levels - Please select the most appropriate Contribution Level. If they appear on half or more, select Major Role. Less than half, select Minor Role. Albums where the artist has a Major Role will display highest, under Featured Recordings on the page. Post-voice-change recordings may be added on occasion. For these please select Adult or After Voice Change so they may be identified and grouped correctly. Maojr contributors display in bold letters.

In the above example, Libera is a Major Contributor since they perform on every track (They appear bold). The other singers are Minor Contributors since they each sing on less than half of the tracks.

Editing Albums / Linking other artists to existing album
Click on the title of the album you would like to make changes to. This brings you to the Album Detail page.

From here you may:

Edit the basic album details (album name, label, format, etc) by clicking the EDIT button in the upper right.

Add album covers - You may add more than one, but only the first one added will appear on the main Artist Page. Please follow the instructions regarding size of images. The site does not automatically resize images at this time, so you may email me the image if its too big, or let me know to resize it.

Add and Edit Tracks - Click the ADD button or the EDIT button next to the specific track. When adding tracks, feel free to use the 'scratch pad'. This allows you to copy the entire track list into the box so you don't have to flip back and forth between browser windows.

Add and Edit Links - click the EDIT button next to the link. Ceratin ones may not be edited.

Add More Artists to the album/item - If more than one artist perform on one album, simply select the additional artist from the dropdown in the upper right. Then select the contribution level that is appropriate for him/them. Click Update. The link to that artist will appear. The album will now be displayed on each artist's page. (See explanation above.)

Change Contribution Levels - To change the contribution level for an artist who is already linked to the album, simply select that artist from the dropdown in the upper right. Select the new contribution level. Click Update. (See explanation above.)

Feel free to email me with questions or problems you may have.

Adding and Editing Events
The event management system is quite unique, as it allows users to view a list of upcoming events specifically for boys choirs, and it allows events to be displayed for an entire region or a particular country. This is ideal for choirs embarking on a national or mutinational tour as the site allows thousands of choral enthusiasts around the world to find this information all in one place. In addition, it is not necessary to enter specific dates one by one. Simply select the start and end dates and paste in the complete itenerary. Each event will automatically be tied to a brief profile and image (if available) as well as links to the choirs website and any other contact information. There are no costs, subscriptions, or obligations in using this service.

Entering a tour or event - Click the Add Event link from the Home Page.

Enter the requested information. You may copy and paste formatted tour details in the description box. This will allow you to create just a single entry for the entire tour, rather than individual entries for each day. Formatting and links will be retained. Where there are large gaps of inactivity within the schedule, it may be better to list items individually.

Select an artist, if applicable. The event will appear on the artists page as welll as the home page.

To make changes to an event, click on the event detail where you will find a link to Edit the event.

This was created solely to aid fans around the world in finding choir performances in their areas. Please take advantage of it, and let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for improvements.

Languages
The site's main language is English. To view some of the main links in a different language, click one of the flags at the top of the page. If you wish to enter information in another language, please try to enter an English version alongside it. For example, a Dutch artist may have a Dutch and English version of the biography.

Albums - Foreign language albums and tracks should be entered in the same language. A transliteration or translation of non-western text is useful, but not necessary.

Problems - Some foreign text may appear as garbage. You may need to change your browser's encoding to read certain things that others have entered (see picture at right).

Improvements - If you have suggestions for improving the foreign language text or links, just let me know.
