Gilberto e Gilmar    (est. 1967) Country Group
Print Friendly Page
Born in Rinópolis, Brazil, Gilberto and Gilmar moved at four years of age to the capital São Paulo, where they still live. The career of the pair began with São Paulo TV in 1967, when Gilmar at 7 years and Gilbert at 11 appeared on the program of Sílvio Santos.

The next step in direction to the success happened when the sertaneja celebrity duo of the time, Tonico and Tinoco, invited the young singers to participate on two tracks of their new record that recounted the life of them when they were children. Less than two years later, in 1970, Gilbert and Gilmar had launched their first LP which included such prominent songs as "Atravessando Campinas", by Manuel Gomes, "Lirinha", by Joaquim Gomes and "Mãe Sertaneja", by Tonico e Capitão Furtado.

During their 32 year career, they launched 25 records, of which 2 had been of platinum and 4 had been of gold.
