The robed boys choir was founded in 1994, by Keith Knowles, the current Director of Music.
There is a set number of places in the choir each year. Provision is made for 24 boy Choristers and 18 Choral Scholars, - all members of the choir are pupils at the school. Each year over 100 boys audition for one of the 8-10 places that become available to new 1st year boys at the College.
In the Treble section (usually boys in 1st and 3rd year) a Head and Deputy Chorister and 6 Senior Choristers are appointed each September. Without exception, all Choral Scholars (4th year boys upwards) have sung with the choir as trebles, and serveral go on to achieve 'Honorary Chorister' status, having spent all 7 years of their school life in the choir.
The choirs principle medium is the liturgical performance of sacred music maintaining the English Choral tradition - something that makes the choir evermore popular during their numerous visits abroad.
