Warwickshire County Choristers and County Boys Warwickshire County Choristers

Warwickshire County Boys Choir was launched In March 2008. Within two years this produced a 100 strong County Boys Choir and a more advanced Choristers Choir with over 60 members.

The County Boys Choir rehearses regularly in areas, giving a major concert each term. In November 2010 this Choir (now all Choristers) was in the Grand Final of the BBC Choir of The Year competition.

Warwickshire County Choristers perform more frequently. They gave their first performance at the Butterworth Hall in November 2009 and since then have sung at many venues locally and further afield including Westminster Cathedral, Malvern Priory, and New College Oxford. Last July they appeared at Symphony Hall in the National Festival of Music for Youth and in Easter 2010 they undertook their first overseas tour to France. In March 2010 the County Boys produced 'Bright Stars', their first CD.

IN 2011 the boys toured Cornwall, gaining an award at the international male voice festival. Their second CD 'How Can I Keep From Singing' was released in November 2011. IN 2012 the boys were again in the finals of the National Youth Music Fetsoval at Symphony Hall, named 'Choir of the Day' in Choir of the Year 2012 and continue to sing at major events and in pretigious venues. Expansion continues with the formation of a senior choristers group and the establishment with strong County Music Service support, of the 'County Male Voices' with 40 teenage members.

Warwickshire Choristers aims to encourage all boys and young men to discover their voices and experience the joy of singing. We achieve this through our support and development of open access countywide choirs for boys from primary age through to 21. All choirs supported by Warwickshire Choristers provide a supportive, challenging environment in which all members can develop both musically and as individuals within the team. Warwickshire Choristers work in close partnership with the County Music Service (CMS) who provide a wide range of musical opportunities of a high standard - see www.musicforlife.net Garry Jones, previous County Music Director, retired early from CMS in order to build up men and boys' singing in the County
