Paul Voois Paul Voois was 9 years old when he joined the Holy Trinity Boys' Choir in the fall of 1975. Even then, it was quite apparent that he possessed superior musical gifts; in addition to his existing studies on the cello and piano, he soon began singing solos in service and concert.

While a student at West Chester State College's Laboratory School, Paul was selected as a soloist for Bruce Haacks recording 'Ebenezer Electric.' For grades three to six, he attended West Chester Friends Community School; since seventh grade he has been enrolled as Devon Preparatory School.

During has years with the Choir, Paul performed in several productions at West Chester State College. His first was as Amahl in Gian Carlo Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors. Next he sang the role of Isaac in a performance of Benjamin Britten's Canticle II - Abraham and Isaac. At the church, he sang many major treble solos with the choir; one of the most memorable was in Mendelssohn's Hear My Prayer/O for the Wings of a Dove. The musical understanding, dramatic intensity and mature interpretation needed for such endeavors are not often found in treble soloists; happily though, from time to time, a boy does appear who, like Paul, possesses these abilities and spends the time and efforts needed to bring them to fruition.

Recently, Paul was elected Head Chorister by his peers, the choir boys; later, he was presented with The Gold Cross, the Choir's highest award. The latter award is given only to those boys who possess the personal characteristics judged to be of high value by the choir director; they include the qualities of leadership, a sense of responsibility, dedication, and commitment to the church and the choir, and in this case, exceptional musical aptitude. Needless to say, with these character traits, Paul has set a fine example for the younger boys.

Considering his achievements, there is little doubt that Paul is a fine musician. However, what sets him apart and makes him a truely unique individual is the well-rounded life that he has led. At Devon Prep, he has maintained a 4.0 grade point average; in Little League, he was an All-Star player; he has played on basketball and hockey teams and pursues interests in golf, hiking, camping, and boating. In explaining Paul's success in school, music, and athletics, one can readily identify such qualities as confidence, internal motivation, finely-tuned listening skills and an intense desire to learn virtually anything. — Sleeve Notes
