Mendelssohn: Hear My Prayer . . . O for the Wings of a Dove (Broadcast (N.S.) (8-inch) 1011, 78 RPM)
Featuring Kenneth Hill
Broadcast New Series with light blue label. Matrix number as catalogue number. Perhaps issued 1932/33. (The Broadcast label was introduced in 1927 and the 8-inch disc had reduced groove-pitch so that it's duration was similar to the more usual 10-inch disc of the time and was produced until about 1934.)
Described as "a very respectable performance in the bel canto style. The accompaniment appears to be a small string ensemble [string quartet?] - quite effective despite the fact that it's probably pre-electric [unlikely]. It could easily be a mature female voice, but so many boys were well trained in those days, it is difficult to say."
Side A -   Hear My Prayer
Side B -   O for the wings of a dove
