Max Riebl Max Riebl was born in 1991 in Melbourne, Australia. Born into a musical family, Max showed an ability to sing and perform theatrically from an early age. He sang with the Melbourne Grammar School Chapel Choir, under Philip Carmody, and performed theatrical roles including Gavroche in Lés Miserables. Concert work included The Youth in Mendelssohn's Elijah with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra. Max played and sang the role of Cupid in John Blow's baroque opera Venus and Adonis at the Vienna Chamber Opera (Wiener Kammeroper) in 2005.

In a completely different idiom he sang and played trumpet on the second album of his brother's band The Cat Empire.

In 2004 Max moved to Vienna where he attended the Musikgymnasium (Music High School). In Vienna he sang as soloist in the Musikverein and Schubertsaal, and performed the role of Cupido in John Blow's Venus and Adonis at the Kammeroper. He also sang with the Clemencic Consort and was engaged for many solo performances in and around Vienna. In Melbourne he studied with Dermot Tutty and in Vienna with Slyvia Purchar. Max also has an older sister, Rosie, (born 12 April, 1989) who is also an accomplished singer.
