Marcel Beekman was born September 3, 1969 in Zwolle. He has always enjoyed singing with the radio, at school, etc. At eight years old he performed at the kids songfestival. It was his first public performance. He won First Place with the song.

In the early 1980s he recorded several albums and became nationally known after regular appearances on both radio and television. He concluded his vocal studies at conservatory with distinction in 1993. Marcel is now a sought-after tenor soloist in both the Baroque/Classical and the contemporary concert and opera repertoire.
