The Boys Choir of The Holy Trinity Church (Treenighedskirken) in Esbjerg was founded by the organist, Per Günther, in 1964, three years after the church was consecrated. Until 1989 when the choir director resigned, it functioned as the permanent choir at services in the church. The choir currently consists of about 50 boys and men and takes part in services at the church about once a month, and the connection is regarded as very important, as the church tradition, both musically and in social terms, forms the foundation on which the choir is based.
The choir has given concerts in nearly all European countries, as well as Canada and the USA. On these tours the choir has given concerts in major cathedrals and churches, for example, St. Peters in Rome, Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur in Paris, Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral in London, St. Patrick's and Christ church Cathedral in Dublin, and Edinburgh Cathedral.
The choir regularly broadcasts on Danish Radio and Television. Throughout the years, some 60 broadcasts in the "Before Sunday" series have been recorded for DR-TV, and the choir has recorded and broadcasted "The Nine Lessons" and "Song of Praise". In addition, the choir has taken part in radio broadcasts in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Norway, England, Lithuania, Ireland, Canada and the USA.
